Dear Friends in Christ, Happy New Year! Advent is the beginning of the church’s new year which we schedule around the liturgy that gathers us week in and week out. Our new church year begins with a holy time of longing in watchful hope for the savior to come again, at Christmas time and the end of time. That requires of us a sense of waiting patiently for the Lord, which Bishop Robert Barron notes is “very hard for most of us. I suppose we human beings have always been in a hurry, but modern people especially seem to want what they want when they want it.”
Dear Friends in Christ, Most of you are aware that on October 31, Gov. Jay Inslee formally lifted the state of emergency around the COVID pandemic in Washington. While everyone is still encouraged to be vaccinated, the public restrictions that covered much of public life are officially over. As we breathe a sigh of relief, let’s pray for those who died from the COVID-19 virus, and those who grieve their passing.
On November 19, 2022, we are hosting Tolton: From Slave to Priest , a powerful multi-media live production, filled with music, drama and inspiring performances. Actor Jim Coleman tells the story of Fr. Augustus Tolton, who was born a slave to Peter Paul and Martha Tolton, of Brush Creek, Missouri, and grew up to become the first African American Catholic priest.

Dear Friends in Christ, According to St. Pope Paul VI, the church does not so much have a mission, as it is a mission. In short, the church exists to evangelize – to proclaim Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit so that people in our times through parish communities like St. Bridget’s, will open their hearts to the Lord and find the path to authentic holiness which reveals the deepest meaning and purpose of life.
Dr. Jayne DuBois with a LOCAL TEEN PANEL will join us for our last session in our 3-part Parent Education Series. This community event is free-of-charge. We encourage everyone to share event information with family, friends, and colleagues. Help spread the word - everyone is welcome to attend. Bring a child or come on your own.
This sacrament will be offered after Mass on the first Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of each month. November 4-6 will be the next opportunity at St. Bridget’s.
