Join Seattle University and Immaculate Conception Church as we celebrate Black Catholic History Month!
On November 19, 2022, we are hosting Tolton: From Slave to Priest , a powerful multi-media live production, filled with music, drama and inspiring performances. Actor Jim Coleman tells the story of Fr. Augustus Tolton, who was born a slave to Peter Paul and Martha Tolton, of Brush Creek, Missouri, and grew up to become the first African American Catholic priest.
Fr. Augustus Tolton's life was one of hidden holiness. His cause for canonization has been presented to the Vatican and is moving forward quickly.
This event is sponsored and hosted by Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Black Catholic Advisory Circle, Seattle University's Campus Ministry, and Seattle University's Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture.
If you’d like to carpool, please arrive to St. Bridget’s no later than 6pm.
