The grand re-opening of our parish hall last Sunday, September 11, was a huge success. Thanks to all who came for the celebration, and here’s to many more as a parish community. I want to thank the many people who generously helped with the “Hall Refresh Project.” A special word of thanks to parish staff person Luanne Johnson who spent many, many hours giving the hall a warm, family touch. I invite everyone to continue our fellowship with the Pancake Breakfast that follows our 9:30 am Mass this Sunday, September 18. The Foosball and Air Hockey tables will be available for use!
My hope is that we are in full mode of a “Back to Church” movement in our parish as we continue to recover from the COVID-19 shutdowns of the past couple of years. Regular participation in weekend Mass is a primary part of that, as is supporting our outreach ministries like the SVDP. So is bringing our kids to “Children’s Church” and encouraging our 7-12th grade students to participate in our Confirmation Prep Program which begins this Sunday, September 18 in the Fireside Room after the 9:30 am Mass. If you have not yet registered for this, please show up anyway, and grab a plate of pancakes on the way. Contact Alex and Sarah Chopyak at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Another area of recovery I wish to bring to your attention is the stewardship oftreasure we exercise through our financial support of St. Bridget’s. Summer vacations explain our lower Sunday offerings in recent weeks, but I hope to see those increase this fall. FYI: I never ask people to give to something I don’t also support. Next month, I will be fortunate to start receiving my pension from the archdiocese and will be dedicating a portion of that to be added to my monthly stewardship to St. Bridget’s through EFT, (Electronic Funds Transfer.) Thanks to all of you who join me in that way of giving, or through the regular use of the Sunday envelope. A word of encouragement to those who do not regularly give is to consider doing so. Our collective support strengthens the character of our parish.
