Dear Friends in Christ,
Most of you are aware that on October 31, Gov. Jay Inslee formally lifted the state of emergency around the COVID pandemic in Washington. While everyone is still encouraged to be vaccinated, the public restrictions that covered much of public life are officially over. As we breathe a sigh of relief, let’s pray for those who died from the COVID-19 virus, and those who grieve their passing.
This return to normal goes for our life as a parish. I hope those of you who have stayed away from Mass for an extended period of time now feel safe and comfortable enough to return. While no longer required, wearing a mask and sitting socially distant from others remains an option for those who wish. People are welcome to shake hands or simply bow in offering a sign of peace at that part of the Mass. We will continue to have hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the church. So, I hope to see everyone at Mass soon!
One thing we are now permitted to do again is the option of receiving holy communion from the cup. We will resume this practice on the first Sunday of Advent, Nov. 26th-27th. I want to stress that receiving from the cup is optional, and understand, that many, perhaps even most of you may not feel comfortable doing so. What’s important is that we encourage all members of the parish to gather for Mass on a regular basis. Please extend that invitation. All are welcome!
Let me close by again thanking all of you who have made a pledge of your treasure in the coming calendar year. Those who have renewed their pledge from last year, please consider increasing it if you can. Thanks to John Lane, Shallete D’Souza, JJ and Chloe Horner for their fine words encouraging us all to financially invest in the mission of St. Bridget’s Parish!
Blessings of peace,
Fr. William Heric, Pastor
