Dear Friends in Christ,
This past week, I attended the funeral of Thomas Allsopp, who served for many years as a chaplain at the local Seattle Children’s Hospital. He worked with our Deacon Denny Duffel and numerous volunteers who serve as a part of the Camillus Ministry sponsored by St. Bridget Parish. These are trained lay pastoral caregivers who visit families at the hospital to offer spiritual support. This important ministry is now under the supervision of Fr. Duc and is open to anyone in our family of parishes. Please stay tuned for more information about future training classes that will be offered for those interested in serving in this ministry.
For those who gather in the narthex at St. Bridget for Mass or a meeting in their Fireside Room, you will notice two new stained-glass windows in those spaces. They formerly hung in a chapel at Children’s, and when that space was repurposed, the hospital gave them to the parish. If you look closely, you will notice that the window images are specially designed for an environment suited for children. The narthex window depicts a smiling Moses receiving the Ten Commandments from the hands of God. The other image is a smiling angel who appears at the empty tomb of the risen Jesus. Please take the time to look at these sacred images the next time you are at St. Bridget’s. Let’s also continue to pray for the patients and those who care for them at Children’s Hospital.
Blessings of peace,
Fr. William Heric, Pastor
