In 2014, the Washington State bishops built upon the good work of Catholic Charities serving Central Washington and created the Pregnancy and Parenting Support program (PREPARES) to offer pregnant and new moms true choice. PREPARES is a volunteer-run program offering meaningful, local, and unconditional support to mothers, fathers, and families as they nurture their children through pregnancy and early childhood.
Services are available for families from pregnancy to a child’s fifth birthday. All families are welcome, regardless of their background. The many services offered include essential needs, such as diapers, clothing and car seats, parenting classes, play groups, and companions to walk with moms and their children on their journey.
Ten years later, PREPARES has served over 16,000 families statewide with help from 759 direct service volunteers in 182 parishes. The ministry of PREPARES is a perfect example of Catholic respect for every life in action! Thank you PREPARES leads and volunteers for ensuring women are supported as they choose life.
