As we continue the process of discerning the future of parish life in the Partnersin the Gospel planning process, we dare not lose sight of our roots as a faith community. Among the many, many things I am grateful for in our history as a parish is the legacy of our present patron St. Bridget of Kildare. We are also blessed with the memory of our neighborhood patron St. Frances XavierCabrini who established what is now Villa Academy.
One of the projects we started before the Partners in the Gospel plan was announced was the commission of a local artist, Kathy Sievers to create two large icons for our sanctuary space, one of St. Bridget and one of St. Frances Cabrini. Unexpected circumstances have delayed the completion of the icons, but I expect them to be finished in 2024. An important part of iconography is the spiritual formation and education of those who will be blessed by the sacred images. Please go to the links below for a report on the significance of the lives of these two saints for Christians today, including all who gather in our parish.
St. Bridget of Kildare and St. Frances Xavier Cabrini…pray for us!
