Dear Friends in Christ, The Acts of the Apostles we hear every Sunday during the Easter Season recalls the beginning of the Christian Church that was born from Jesus’ resurrection and the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. These events compelled the first disciples to preach the Gospel to all the nations. This recollection of our beginnings is not simply a look back in history, but also a reminder of our mission as Christians in the present time and world we share. Our mission statement at St. Bridget’s bears mention here: Rooted in the Gospel of Christ, we are a Catholic parish community, welcoming all people to pray, love, and serve together. We will discover that mission anew, in the emerging model of parish life that is developing through the Partners in the Gospel Plan. You will hear in the next couple of weeks what the Mass schedule will be in the four parishes joining together as a family beginning July 1. That being said, it’s important to remember that St. Bridget’s will continue to be a distinct parish community for at least the next couple 2-3 years. So, actively supporting the mission of St. Bridget’s Parish I hope remains a high priority for all of you. One opportunity to do that is the parish auction celebration on Friday, May10th. My thanks to all who have worked to make “A Night in Paris” a wonderful gathering for our community. Special thanks to our parish staff, Susie Lane, Lyanne Scott, Melissa Malley, and Anne Lovinger Earhart who have worked especially hard to make the auction an enjoyable and successful event for all. A final word of thanks to all of you who have made donations through the auction to support the mission of St. Bridget’s Parish. One final reminder for us as Catholics: We gather not only in local congregations, but also in communion with Catholics around the world, and regionally here in Western Washington. The Annual Catholic Appeal that takes place every spring, is our opportunity to support the many ministries we collectively sponsor as an archdiocese. Please consider a gift to the ACA to help us reach our goal of 83K which is an important way we come together as the first disciples did, to “ Preach the gospel to all the nations.” Blessings of peace, Fr. William Heric, Pastor
