Dear Friends in Christ, The coming celebrations of the Epiphany this Sunday and the Baptism of theLord on Monday bring the Christmas season to a formal close. I hope this Christmas has been a special source of joy, peace and hope for all of you. Tuesday we return to Ordinary Time, which is where we live most of our lives. One of the ordinary customs that characterizes healthy relationships is the expression of gratitude for the various gifts people share as a community. I want to thank all those who contributed to making Christmas special this year at St. Bridget’s. A big thankyou to all those who helped with environmental decorations, our music ministry, the adorable children’s pageant and choir, our liturgical ministers, those who put together our Christmas worship aid, and last but not least, those who helped with our Giving Tree outreach. I’ve avoided singling out individuals for fear of overlooking people who have contributed, but I do want to acknowledge two people in particular. Special thanksto Sarah and Alex Chopyak who worked especially hard in making our Christmas liturgies prayerful and beautiful, doing all of this while being 8+months pregnant with their second child. Sarah begins her maternity leave January 8th to prepare for the birth of baby Arthur a couple of weeks later. Alex will continue in his role as director of our OCIA program, and as overseer of our liturgical ministers. Please join me in praying for a healthy delivery of their baby, and in thanking God for the precious and sacred gift of life we all share. A final thank you to the Creator of all that is good and beautiful for the life of Jeanie Shields whose funeral we will celebrate this Wednesday January 10, at 11:00am. Jeanie was a faithful participant at daily and Sunday Mass, even in the final months of her life. May she rest in heavenly life and love forever! Blessings of peace in 2024! Fr. William Heric, Pastor
