We have received a communique from our colleagues at Catholic Relief Services regarding the recent devasting earthquakes that took place earlier this week. Catholic Relief Services is supporting emergency relief efforts led by local partners in both Syria and Turkey with Caritas Turkey, Caritas Syria in Aleppo and Lattakia—where extensive damage has been reported. Already in Turkey, Caritas Anatolia, in coordination with authorities, is bringing displaced people to safe, open spaces and distributing hot meals and clothing. CRS will assist partners as they provide a range of support to meet evolving needs.
We recommend you push out the necessary donation information (see above) and fact sheet (see link below) through your normal parish communication channels. And those pastors who wish to do a more formal ask/collection can choose to do so at the parish level.
